A volunteer group from Taiwan...
|
 |
|
We are a group of Taiwanese volunteers and
two foreign residents. We are doing our best to save as many of
Taiwan's street dogs as possible.
Taiwan's streets are full of
them, so what we can do is only little, however we are trying to save
as many as we can. Our small group of volunteers uses their private
assets and free time to take of the dogs and pay for the vet treatment
and neutering.
We do NOT receive any financial support of any
institutions here in Taiwan. At daytime, we are working in offices, but
in our free time we are trying to help them. Every dog needs a home, so
we trying to find Taiwanese or overseas people to adopt the dogs in our
care.
As we only have very limited space for our dogs, we can only take care
of a new one if one gets adopted.
We are focused on finding a new home for our dogs.
If you want to help : You can support us by donations to
help us paying
the expenses for our dog rescues.

"Taiwan Dog" has international friends
|
The "Taiwan Dog", also called Formosan or "Formosan Mountain
Dog", which is the result of lots of stray dogs interbreeding, is on
the edge of becoming viewed as its own pure breed. Here at
stray-dogs.org, you will find Taiwan Dogs, but also all kinds of mixed
breeds and pure breeds, because they all are roaming Taiwan's streets.

11/2009:
Skewer in mouth: Animal cruelty,
once again, in a municipal dog shelter in Taiwan. A dog, not even 4
months old, had a skewer in its mouth. The ordeal lasted for several
hours until dog dog rescuers came (SEE
HERE).
Some
time back there was an even worse story where a dog suffocated in a car
parked in the hot sun and police stopped dog rescuers from taking it
out (LINK
HERE).
10/2009: Flight
guardian needed for November from Taipei to San Francisco.

1/2009: We have moved the
website to our new webhoster and it is fully functional again. A happy
new year to all visitors and supporters of stray-dogs.org.
12/2008: As
our webhoster has announced to close business in Q1/2009 we cannot rule
out interruptions of our online service. We will try to continue
seamlessly at another hoster. If you cannot reach this website once in
a while you can still get all updates about our work in the Animal
Section of the blog
of our member Ruediger: http://taiwanformosablog.blogspot.com/
also accessible simply as Globalforeigner.com.
Kindly bookmark this page.
08/2008: This new website is
introducing dogs to you, which had been
roaming the streets and had been rescued by us. We brought them to a
vet and cured them and so they are looking for a loving home in Taiwan
or overseas. As there are probably ten thousands of stray dogs in
Taiwan, we kindly ask you to consider adopting one. Take a look and
find yourself a grateful companion which will be loyal and loving to
its new owner, when it finally found a home.
